Since trying to figure out my new healthier eating lifestyle, I am trying to consolidate my grocery lists. This is hard to do at first because you are inevitably all over the place in cooking. I think I am getting the hang of it now, and I plan on setting up a budget for groceries after I get back from Thanksgiving.
Until then, I hit up Mama Jeans last night and picked up a few goodies!
Fresh ground almond butter. Like you turn on the machine and watch it grind at the store. It’s amazingly good and actually cheaper than other brands ($7.99/pound) as opposed to the jars which are around 10-15 a pound (I don’t really understand that!). I will let you know if I have any trouble with the fresh kind.
Agave nector. I have been looking for this for awhile now, and finally stumbled across it, so I picked it up! I tasted it and its like a less thick honey, very yummy and sweet! (Also pictured, more organic pumpkin, this has become my favorite new ingredient to add to everything)
Organic, air-popped popcorn. This was on sale for $1.40 so I thought I would give it a try with my vegan chocolate chips and cinnamon, although I will have to heat it up in the microwave to get the same delicious melting of chocolate effect.
Vegan mozzarella. I really like the vegan cheddar for cooking, NOT eating right off the block, so I thought I could do some fun things with the mozzarella.
Portabella mushroom slices. These are from Walmart, but they will be an integral part of my lunch today :-) I LOVE portabellas!
Last but not least, when I went to Joeys last night he surprised me with this set of Tupperware that I wanted!! Might sound a little silly to some, but it was incredibly sweet! I love my boyfriend, and it’s always the little things that mean the most.
As for my cracked wheat/honey tofu I made for dinner last night, no bueno.
I actually think that I am going to try it again, because I didn’t know that you shouldn’t really keep tofu in the fridge out of the packaging for more than a few days and mine was in there about a week, so it tasted a little funny. But the cracked wheat and honey part was super yummy. I bet it would be great as a crust on chicken breast also! As a side I missed chickpeas, broccoli, and brown rice and tossed it in about 1 tbsp of goddess dressing; best part of the meal.
Well time for more homework for me. Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday and are getting excited for the upcoming family holiday!!
